The Sicilian regional assembly on Tuesday approved a measure that will enable public bodies on the island to directly offer jobs to people made orphans by femicides, without going through the usual selection process.
The same possibility will be open in the cases of women who have been the victims of violence that led to a deformation or a disfiguration of their faces.
This measure extends the scope of an existing regional law for the victims of the mafia regarding jobs in regional and local entities, institutes and health authorities.
Italy has been hit by an alarming spate of cases of femicide and violence against women.
