Next summer, Delta Air Lines will launch a new non-stop flight between Catania and New York-JFK. The American airline will operate the direct connection between the two cities on a daily basis, starting May 22, 2025. The new flight will also offer passengers the opportunity to continue their journey with connecting flights via Delta's New York-JFK hub to destinations throughout North America.
“The new Catania-New York route is a crucial milestone for the development of our airport and for all of Sicily. The direct connection with one of the major global metropolises will have a positive impact on the local economy, attracting visitors from around the world interested in discovering the beauties of our island, while at the same time allowing American tourists, many of Sicilian origin, to reconnect with their roots. Moreover, we will simultaneously offer a hub for businesses targeting the US market and American companies interested in investing in Italy. This operation thus confirms Catania airport as a reference point in the aviation sector, capable of adapting to a continuously evolving market and supporting the growth of Sicily,” stated Nico Torrisi, CEO of Catania Airport Management Company.
"In 2025, Italy will record the most significant international growth for Delta of any transatlantic market we serve," said Matteo Curcio, Delta's Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. "We are very pleased to arrive in Sicily and become the first American airline to connect Catania to the United States, offering an even broader choice of destinations across the USA, while supporting the local economy and providing greater opportunities for American tourists wishing to visit Italy.”
In the summer of 2025, the Delta flight from Catania to New York-JFK will be operated in collaboration with the European partner Air France KLM.
